really popular when it’s born. And this year 2015, Samsung pushed Galaxy Note 5
out with high specifications and new out appearance. The hardware including 5.7″
Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16 MP camera, Exynos 7420 chipset and so
on makes it’s much more excellent. Next, we will show the most complete
teardown of Samsung Galaxy Note 5, which for leading you to know more about
that device and about Samsung Galaxy Note 5 repair.
Let’s start the trip of Samsung Galaxy Note
5 disassembly now! The repair tools should be prepared in advance such as heat
gun, suction cup, guitar picks, Phillips screwdriver, tweezers and spudger and
so on.
Teardown Guide
Step
1. Remove SIM card tray and S Pen. For the reason
that we choose Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Duos as example, so you can find the SIM
card tray comes with two slots. As for the S Pen, just push and pop it out
easily.
Step
2. Remove back cover. Same with Galaxy S6 design,
Note 5 applies the mirroring glass back cover, too. Much more attractive and
beautiful! And It’s sealed by strong adhesive sticker, not only clips anymore,
so we can’t replace the back cover easily any more, we can’t take the battery
out freely anymore. We have to heat it at first and then cut the adhesive
sticker slowly and carefully. If you can’t insert or slide the guitar pick
easily, you need more heat.
Step
3. Remove middle housing. Samsung Galaxy Note 5
middle housing is made of aluminum, really hard, strong and durable. Be patient
to remove all 20 screws together from back housing at first. Then push the front
assembly until it’s out from middle housing. There are a little adhesive around
every corner, but it’s not difficult to separate. And we can get the middle
housing alone now, it’s comes with power button, volume buttons, NFC&wireless
charging film, camera lens and loudspeaker.
Step
4. Remove battery. Yes, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is
non-removable. Release its connector and pry it up from the slot. There is the
adhesive underneath but not so strong.
Step
5. Remove signal flex cables. Why cables? That’s Samsung
Galaxy Note 5 N9200 version which comes with two pieces of signal flex cables,
blue and white. Some other versions Note 5 maybe has only one piece.
Step
6. Remove motherboard. In fact, it’s not difficult
to disassemble the motherboard. Release the LCD connector, digitizer connector,
earpiece assembly connector and home button flex connector gently at first, and
then turn to the back release the USB board connector. And now, the motherboard
is free.
Step
7. Disassemble motherboard. Remove rear camera, front camera and
noise-canceling MIC. There is a tip for rear camera
especially. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rear camera comes with black plastic bracket
around, and we need to remove them together after loosen a little adhesive
underlying.
Step
8. Remove motor vibrator. It’s most easy remove.
Just the adhesive.
Step
9. Remove earpiece assembly. It’s called assembly
for the reason that it’s integrated by earpiece speaker and sensors. Be careful
with the flex especially the part stuck on the top side.
Step
10. Remove LCD screen. To be honest, the difficulty
and risk to remove Samsung Galaxy Note 5 screen are getting 5 stars (5 scores
top). The screen is weak and there is so much strong adhesive. We need a lot
heat until we melt the sticker. Don’t use too thick tools, just several pieces
of hard papers is okay. Cut all the stickers carefully, slowly even need to
spend more time. When deal with the bottom side, there are two soft touch keys
underneath, don’t break their flex or you will lose the “Menu” and “Back”
buttons forever. Finally, take away the screen really hardly.
Step
11. Remove USB board. The design of Samsung Galaxy
Note 5 USB board really brings many difficulties to DIY repair or replacement.
Replacing USB board is nearly same with teardown because of its soft touch
keys, they are holding down the screen. So we can get the USB board put only
after removing LCD screen. That’s the truth, at the risk of breaking screen.
Oh, don’t forget the last securing screw on USB board, twist it off, loosen
adhesive and remove the USB board successfully.
Step
12. Remove home button. The same theory with USB
board replacement, though Samsung Galaxy Note 5 home button is a small part, it’s
the most complicated and difficulty one to remove. There, pay attention to the
mark on the right of the home button, push the button as the direction and can
release it from slot easily. And then loosen the adhesive and remove it.
Step
13. Done. That’s Samsung Galaxy Note 5 complete
teardown. What’s more, it’s also the guide to do Samsung Galaxy Note 5 LCD
screen replacement, USB board replacement and home button replacement.
